Reflection on module

Over the course of this module I learned a lot through the various lectures and assignments. This module has made me aware just how much social media is relevant in our life and the many uses that it has such as social or business. I learned how to use different social medias that I would have never been interested in before such as pinterest and Flickr. I was unaware of just how many different forms of social media there were.
My favourite part of this module was learning how to create an app using the MIT inventor. I found it very interesting learning just exactly how an app is put together and the process that it invloved. I enjoyed creating the app with my group and then testing it once it had been completed.
I also learned some helpful tips that will help me in the future when it comes to college work such as using prezi to display powerpoint presentations. I also found bookmarking helpful as it is an easy way to store and access information.
Overall i enjoyed this module and I feel like I have learned a lot from it and will be taking a lot away from it.

For one of our elabs we had to create a diigo account. This allows you to bookmark things. Bookmarking allows you to access information more easily and helps to keep information organised. Tags are used in bookmarking. For our elab we were given a article to save to our diigo and then we played around with some of the different features which were available. Some of these features included highlighting which when you select a particular part of a text the background goes yellow and the information saves to a section in your library. Other features included Taking notes, screenshots, searching, collaborating and using groups, bibliography and sharing. From this elab i discovered that diigo would be a great way to store and save information that i come across that would be beneficial to my college work. It would allow easy and quick access to my information in an organised area and the highlighting feature would allow me to extract which parts of information were the most important.

For one of our elabs our task was to create a Pinterest account. We had to create a board of on it following a link that Shane gave us and then we had to repin a photo. The first photo we had to pin was a picture of Fungi the dolphin. I learned from doing this elab how pinterest operates. It is a form of social media that I have never used before and it gave me an insight into a different way of social media. Pinterest can be used for uploading and tagging photos all over the world. I found it interesting learning about a new form of social media as i usually only use Facebook, instagram and twitter.

Photos of my Prezi I made

For one of our elabs we had to create a presentation using Prezi. Unfortunately I missed this lab but I was able to catch up with the work after. Prezi allows you to create a presentation which you can add images and YouTube videos too. For this Prezi I chose a simple topic. I chose cats. I picked a template from the options given and changed the colour of it from blue to red. I then added an image and a Youtube video to my Prezi. I attached some text and arrows from the editing options. I found Prezi very easy to use and an efficient way of presenting work that was done. For my group work we decided that Prezi was the best way to present our project. During this tutorial I learned all the different features that were available to me when  using Prezi.It gave me ideas of how I could present projects in other subjects . I will defiately be using Prezi again when it comes to creating a powerpoint for presenting a project.

 I created my flickr account and uploaded some personal photos to it. I created two albums. One album contained pictures I took on a trip to disneyland and the other album contained pictures I took of food. I learned that Flickr is a great way of sharing pictures and videos with friends and it is a form of social media I have never used before.
